We are celebrating an important anniversary – 30 years of successful operation on the Czech and Slovak markets! As a leading recruitment agency, over three decades we have helped thousands of clients to find the best employees and candidates to find great job opportunities. Our success is based on the professionalism and dedication of all our colleagues, who have made us a reliable partner in human resources. Take a look back with us at the journey full of challenges and achievements that has made us number one in HR.

9 key milestones in our company history

The story of our company began in 1994. At that time, a branch of the French-based company SYNERGIE was established in Prague.

In 1999 we expanded our operations to Slovakia, opening a new Bratislava branch.

During our thirty years of existence, SYNERGIE has experienced many significant moments that have shaped our path to success. From humble beginnings, to overcoming financial crises, to expanding into international markets, each milestone has contributed to the growth and innovation that defines SYNERGIE today.

  1. 2008 – Financial crisis: This crisis fundamentally impacted the company as almost all clients stopped their recruitment processes. The Slovak branch was threatened with closure, but the courage of the team convinced the French management and the employees were subsequently entrusted with managing the branch independently.
  2. 2010 – Working with a large online marketplace: SYNERGIE helped one of the world’s largest online marketplaces to open a shared services centre in Bratislava. “We convinced them and already in April 2011 the first employees were taken on,” recalls Martin Huba, Managing Director of CZ&SK. In just one year, more than 70 positions were filled across the company.
  3. 2015 – Expansion of services to include new specialisations: SYNERGIE has expanded its services and specialisations, becoming one of the main players in the HR and recruitment labour market. Collaboration with various startups and established companies helped the company develop new procedures and approaches to recruitment.
  4. 2015 – Refugee camp in Gabčíkov: SYNERGIE has become a partner of the company responsible for running the refugee camp in Gabčíkov. “I was initially thrown by the demand for Afghan and Syrian languages, which we had no experience with, but the persistence of our team brought the expected results,” says Martin Huba.
  5. 2018 – Merger of the Czech and Slovak branches: Due to the economic downturn in the Czech Republic, the Slovak and Czech branches reunited under a unified management, which led to cost optimisations and prepared the company for significant growth. 2018 brought yet another significant collaboration with the IT service centre of one of the largest global humanitarian organisations. The project involved recruiting more than 60 specialists from different countries.
  6. S&you brand establishment
  7. 2020 – Response to the COVID-19 pandemic: The pandemic brought new challenges that society had to address quickly. We focused on optimising processes and adapting to new market conditions, which included reducing numbers of internal staff.
  8. 2020 – Recruitment from Ukraine: SYNERGIE began to actively work on recruitment from Ukraine for Czech clients, especially in the field of logistics.
  9. 2023 – Expansion of recruitment capacity outside Europe: Today, the company actively imports workers from India, the Philippines, Indonesia, and African countries, not only for low-skilled positions, but also as IT specialists, team leaders and managers, across sectors such as: FMCG, construction and real estate, the chemical industry, finance, consulting, and others.

In recent years, we have been working intensively to optimise the recruitment processes of foreign employees, recognising the importance of high-quality selection already in the candidate’s home country. Cooperation with African and Asian partners has brought new opportunities. We are able to employ programmers, designers, AI developers and other specialists remotely. “The main tool of our success is the specialisation of our consultants, who dive deep into a specific sector, whether it be IT, logistics, retail, marketing or HR, to better understand the context and responsibilities of a given position, and the nature of the work,” adds Martin.

Relationship building. Not only externally, but also internally

The key to SYNERGIE’s long-term success is its focus on building strong relationships with both clients and candidates. One example is the successful cooperation with the local headquarters of an international bank, where we facilitated the filling of key positions.

We also place great emphasis on the education and professional development of our employees. Internal training and mentoring programmes help employees grow in their roles and adapt to new challenges.

I grew up in SYNERGIE – not only professionally but also as a human being

Ivana Kasanická, who soon after graduation started at SYNERGIE in 2016 as a researcher, has worked her way through various positions up to Head of Researchers’ Development CZ & SK. “An event etched in my mind in 2018 was the privilege of representing our branch at the annual meeting of the European Society Committee in Paris. I was elected by my colleagues, which I greatly appreciate, and I gave a presentation to the company’s top management and representatives of other subsidiaries across Europe.”

What will the next 30 years be like?

This anniversary is an opportunity not only to look back on achievements already chalked up, but also to consolidate commitments with employees and clients and chart a course for the next decade. Past challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, have demonstrated SYNERGIE’s resilience, its ability to respond quickly and adapt to changing market conditions. This experience is now the basis for further development and innovation.
